Chimmens Solar Farm at Speedgate

The planning application for this proposal has been received by Sevenoaks District Council.
Fawkham Parish Council has been consulted as an adjoining Parish – the solar panels would be sited within Horton Kirby and South Darenth Parish, with the sub-station in Fawkham. FPC will be discussing its response at our meeting this Thursday, 4th January at 19:30 (this will be held at the Church Centre, Ash Road in Hartley due to the temporary closure of the village hall. Entrance to the meeting is via the rear door from the car park only).
Public comments need to be submitted to SDC by 18th January.
The proposal is for a 99 hectare (245 acre) site on agricultural land which will generate 49.9MW of electricity. Such development is regarded as inappropriate in the Green Belt and so very special circumstances need to be demonstrated. The figures below show the site location and proposed layout of the solar panels and substation compound.
Full details can be found on SDC’s website: https://pa.sevenoaks.gov.uk/onli…/applicationDetails.do…, which contains 51 documents submitted by the applicant, res. Key documents include the Planning Statement, Design and Access Statement and the Agricultural Assessment.
