Government grant secured

Fawkham Parish Council is pleased to let you know that we have been able to buy a number of items for the Parish using just under £4000 of funding which we secured from a Government grant via SDC. We have spent the funding on the following:

– four new multi-coloured benches for the playgrounds at Fawkham Primary School

– a planting trough which we have filled with plants and bulbs and positioned next to the Fawkham sign on Brands Hatch Road. We have planted up this area in the past few years but KCCs contractors have tended to accidentally cut all the plants down so we hope the trough will prevent that in future! We also have purchased some bulbs to plant elsewhere around the Parish.

– a litter bin for the village hall car park, which we hope will cut down on the litter left around.

– more solar lights for the pathway from the car park to the school. These are motion-activated and so will only come on when the path is being used.

– a sign panel which contains some interesting information about Fawkham, including a brief history of medieval Fawkham and the Norman church. This will be sited at the church beside the noticeboard.

To maximise what we could buy, most of the work to install these is being done by Parish Councillors.
